Annual General Meeting

The Argyll Fisheries Trust Annual General Meeting is on Wednedsay 24th October starting at 1.30pm at the Argyll Hotel, Inveraray.  We're having a joint meeting with the Argyll District Salmon Fishery Board, so there should be some lively debate.  In addition to our biologist Alan Kettle-White's report, we are having a presentation from RAFTS (Rivers and Fisheries Trusts of Scotland) on their Aquaculture Mitigation Project, which Argyll Fisheries Trust contributes to.

All welcome, so come along if you can.

The Southern Hebrides

We've just spent 2 weeks working on the islands of Islay, Jura and Colonsay collecting data from rivers for the first phase of our Southern Hebrides Communities and Rivers Project.  Despite a soggy start to the fortnight, work got underway and we were able to get all our fieldwork completed in the two weeks we had on the islands. 

Thank you to all the landowners who gave us permission to access the rivers to perform our surveys, and to the stalkers in the hills for not confusing us with a stag.  Thank you also to our hosts for the fortnight, Rachel and Alasdair Whyte at Glenegedale House - we can thoroughly recommend staying there.

Many thanks to our funders for this project.  Heritage Lottery Fund, Scottish Power Renewables and Awards for All Scotland, as well as the individual landowners who are supporting the work.  Funding is very much appreciated.

We'll be back on the islands starting December to begin our schools part of the project.
